Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden
Nestled in Stock Island, the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden stands as the only “frost-free” botanical haven in the continental United States, offering an unparalleled glimpse into the vibrant biodiversity of the tropics. The garden is home to several endangered flora and fauna, offering a peek into the tropical forests that harbor half of the Earth’s biodiversity. It features two of the last freshwater ponds in the Keys, making it a vital stopover for migratory neo-tropical birds journeying from as far as South America. In exploring its eight self-guided tours, visitors can discover two butterfly gardens showcasing over 23 species, as well as spot rare birds like the white-crowned pigeon or the bald eagle.
